Liposuction
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific body areas, leaving a much more defined shape. The surgical liposuction procedure is also known as liposculpture or suction-assisted lipectomy. It is frequently combines with an abdominoplasty procedure, or Tummy Tuck, which helps to remove the excess skin and tissue for a complete body sculpting procedure.
The Problem
No matter how much you diet or exercise, there can be some body areas left with stubborn pockets of excess fat that just won’t shift. Our busy lives mean our body can suffer considerably, gaining excess body fat at an alarming rate as we age - putting our health at risk. Finding a way to get your body back doesn't have to be impossible, thanks in large part to procedures like liposuction.
The Liposuction Procedure
The treatment can be performed on any area of the body – buttocks, hips, thighs, abdomen, chin, upper arms, breasts or knees – provided that the candidate is suitable for treatment. Liposuction is not an alternative to dieting and exercise and may not be suitable for candidates wanting to lose excess weight.
The procedure can take between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the number of areas being treated. Some patients are day cases while others may be required to stay in hospital overnight for monitoring.
The Liposuction Results
Liposuction, depending on the patient and the extent of the procedure, will require more downtime than VASER Lipo. While exercise and strenuous activity needs to be avoided for several more weeks after your procedure, you will often be able to return to work within a few weeks. Once the swelling has gone down during the recovery period, you will be able to fully appreciate the stellar results our medical team afford our patients.

VASER Lipo vs. Liposuction

Most of our patients, nowadays, tend to prefer VASER Lipo over the more invasive traditional Liposuction procedure. Advantages of Surgical Liposuction
For the right patient, liposuction offers the best procedure for the kind of results required. For instance, larger patients may not be suitable for VASER Lipo. As we offer both procedures, our medical team are able to offer you the balanced advice you need in order to make the best informed decision possible.
The ideal candidate for liposuction should be of average weight, with firm, elastic skin who has pockets of excess fat in certain areas. It is also key to come in with realistic expectations.
Although liposuction can often provide very substantial improvements, it is not a weight-loss technique, or a solution for obesity. It is also not an effective treatment for cellulite. Ideally, any treatment should be viewed as a compliment to regular exercise and good diet, and not the replacement of a healthy lifestyle.
