Dermal Filler Treatments
Dermal fillers i.e Radiesse or Juvederm ( at Struong Cosmetic Orange County) treatments are used to soften and contour lines, folds, and wrinkles. Unwanted folds and wrinkles can be “plumped up” to reduce their appearance, resulting in a smoother, more youthful looking skin.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
The basic principle of dermal fillers is that they have a ‘plumping’ effect on skin and as a result reducing the signs of ageing skin. Different fillers may achieve desired effects in slightly different ways, but the result is that the skin will look more youthful and refreshed.
Our skin is made up of two layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The outermost layer is the epidermis and its main function is to provide protection against the elements and to regulate loss of moisture from tissues and cells, thus serving as a barrier to the outside environment.
The dermis is directly below the epidermis and contains the skin’s structural elements, such as nerves, hair follicles and blood vessels.
The dermis contains collagen which gives the skin its elasticity and strength, offering fundamental support to the skin. As we age the epidermis gradually becomes thinner and provides less protection to the dermis layer. In addition, collagen production in the body slows down considerably and the existing collagen becomes ineffective.
The result is an increase in the appearance of wrinkles, folds, depressions and other forms of skin characteristics associated with ageing. Dermal fillers work as replenishment for the natural collagen which has been rendered less effective by the ageing process and in response adds volume, increases hydration and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
