How It Works
A chemical solution is applied to the skin and left for a precise amount of time before being neutralized. The acid breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells, causing controlled exfoliation. Superficial peels use alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs). Medium peels use trichloroacetic acid (TCA). The depth of peel is selected based on your skin concerns and tolerance.
What to Expect
Consultation includes skin analysis and selection of the appropriate peel depth. Superficial peels involve mild tingling with no downtime. Medium peels involve more significant peeling over 5–7 days. Pre-treatment skin preparation with retinoids or bleaching agents may be recommended.
Recovery
Superficial peels: mild redness for 1–2 days, no visible peeling. Medium peels: visible peeling and flaking over 5–7 days. Strict sun avoidance and SPF are essential during recovery.
