Overview
Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target and destroy hair follicles, permanently reducing unwanted hair. It is safe, effective, and suitable for most body areas — from the face and underarms to the legs and bikini area. With a series of treatments, most patients achieve 80–90% permanent hair reduction.
How It Works
Laser energy is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, heating and destroying it without damaging surrounding skin. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are needed to target follicles in the active growth phase. Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart for facial areas and 6–8 weeks for body areas.
What to Expect
Consultation includes skin and hair type assessment to select the appropriate laser settings. Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. A cooling device or gel is used to protect the skin during treatment. Most patients describe a snapping rubber band sensation.
Recovery
Mild redness and swelling for a few hours post-treatment. Avoid sun exposure and use SPF. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.
